We have chanced upon a piece of information that suggests that Nigeria will have its stolen artifacts returned by Germany.
This was made known in a recent post made by Africa Facts Zone on their official social media handle on the micro-blogging platform, Twitter.
The post made reads;
“Germany will return 7,000 stolen Benin Kingdom artifacts to Nigeria in October 2021.”
The post got some reactions from social media users and some of the reactions are;
@ToluwalaseR – I would have preferred it if all the artifacts remained in Germany museum then Nigerian government can sign a MoU for a certain amount that should be remitted to them. I don’t think Nigeria has the facility to keep all these artifacts.
@Whois_Mark – We are shouting that they should be returned but we are not asking where we are going to put them. I stand to be corrected, if these artifacts had been in Nigeria without “stealing” them, most of them wouldn’t have been known by now
@Yr_AMBASSADOR – We need it back to the Palace in Benin where they were stolen over 124 years ago, not to Nigeria. The artefacts are almost 600,years old is it Nigeria mate?
@jerryksakala – Wonderful. Now we’re waiting for England to do the same . Egyptian artifacts as well.
@VictoriaAfrica9 – We thank Germany for returning the stolen items. They must also return Nigerians that have migrated to Germany, Nigeria is bleeding. Nigerians must fix Nigeria and stop migrating. Its time to fix Nigeria and strengthen the naira.
@deariyoma – better idea. They shouldn’t return it for now. Let them keep it and pay us Royality. Nigeria isn’t ripe for tourism. We are confused and plagued with mismanagement.
