Armed herdsmen have killed not less than 13 people after they stormed Tse-Amgbem community near Aondoana in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State.
Reports have it that the attackers stormed the community in the early hours of Monday, May 3, burnt many houses and left many others with severe injuries.
Reacting to the incident, the Chairman of Gwer West Local Government Area, Grace Igbabon spoke about the casualty figure during an interview with Channels TV. Meanwhile, the residents who were able to flee from the attack have been displaced and seeking refuge in the nearby community, Aondoana town.
Confirming the attack, the Police Spokesperson in the state, DSP Sewuese Anene said that reports linking the perpetrators of the attack and the number of casualties still remains tentative. The extent of damage on the community hasn’t been corroborated yet.

In other news, the remains of an undergraduate of Imo State University, Owerri, Kingsley Chiwueze was recovered dead just five days after he was declared missing.
The 300 level Law Student was declared missing on Monday, April 26 after he couldn’t be reached via his phone and efforts to locate him proved futile.
According to reports, Kingsley hailed from the Oguta Local Government Area of the state and was deeply involved in student union politics. He announced his intention to run for the office of Senate of President of the National Association of Imo State Students two weeks ago, PUNCH Metro reports.
Arinze Oguike, the President of the Students Union Government confirmed the incident on Sunday, May 2 to the news media saying his body was recovered in the morgue of Umuguma General Hospital, Owerri.
